You are off by several decades.
But that is alright, because it wouldn't be any fun if there wasn't a bit of a challenge. HINT #1: The film title we are looking for was an odd gimmick film released in 1961 and may have something to do with a Castle of some kind. |

Okay, I'm going to give this one more shot. Is it Homicidal? Is this the movie where before the end of it, William Castle "spoke" to the audience. They had the option to chicken out and not see the end. Those who pussed out get a certificate of some type saying that they did? |

MR. SARDONICUS was the answer we were looking for! It is another of WILLIAM CASTLE'S gimmick films (so you were close DeathDolly). The gimmick for this film was a pause in the movie where William Castle asked the audience to vote (With a card that they could turn THUMBS UP or THUMBS DOWN) whether the villian gets away with it, or pays for his crime in the final reel. PUT UP A NEW PHOTO JOE, LET'S KEEP IT ROLLING! |

MR. SARDONICUS has long been (since I was a kid) one of the few films that scared the bejesus out of me at the Saturday matinee.
Something about the reveal of THAT FACE (which I'd never even seen a pic of up until that time) in the film actually made me physically jerk away from the
screen and have to look away... The chills up the back feeling and everything.
Very effective scares for it's time. I'd recommend anyone who hasn't seen it to watch it on DVD and seek out any other William Castle films they can.... The House On Haunted Hill (original), The Tingler, 13 Ghosts (the original), Homicidal, etc. Castle was also a producer on Rosemary's Baby. --Sid Terror

Here's a mystery monster for you to have fun with.
A spaceship lands on a foreboding planet for exploration. When they leave the planet, a frightening murderous alien creature leaves with them, stowed away on the ship. The creature then starts hideously killing off the crew members one by one. To survive the long space voyage, the trapped crew must hunt the creature down and kill it, but the monster is often hiding in the dark cramped airducts if the ship. Sound familiar? Is it ALIEN? No. But this film was the major influence for Alien and its sequels.

IT The Terror From Beyond Space
This was played recently on a site where this guy streams a ton of great classic horror and scifi movies, this, THEM, 20 million miles to earth etc. It's fun because we goof off about the movie in the chat while watching them, like a live mst3k! |
