HORROR DRUNX DERAILS A REAL LIFE OSCAR SCANDAL!
A Horror Drunx Exclusive article

Can you imagine what kind of major scandal would be caused if an Oscar winner had been publically stripped of an Academy Award? It would be huge. But it almost happened....
Another undercover insider in the entertainment industry who also happens to be a Horror Drunx narrowly diverted exactly that from happening, not once. BUT TWICE.
This member happens to also do some special events for a Los Angeles area theater. He was recently contacted by a production company who had a film nominated for an Oscar in this years Academy Awards. The reason for that call was to schedule a special screening for the film at the theater so that it could be viewed by academy members that were eligible to vote for it. The production company was going to supply the director (one of the top and most respected directors in the world) for a question and answer session with the audience at this screening, which was to be open to the ticket buying public as well as being free to academy members who could show their membership card at the box office. A date was set and all the prep required for such a screening were underway.
Being a conscientious guy, our undercover Horror Drunx wanted to make sure all academy rules were followed to the letter, so requested that a copy of the official rules were sent to him. It is a very good thing that he did, because it would have been a catastrophe. The rules read as follows...
"The Academy encourages the screening of eligible films in a
theatrical setting for its members. However, nothing may be given to Academy members at such screenings except for a simple listing of the film's credits.
Such screenings must not be accompanied by receptions, buffets or other refreshments, nor should such screenings be accompanied by any kind of live
participation by anyone associated with the film. Screenings containing such additional components that are intended for the general public or other
non-Academy audience may not be promoted to Academy members. If such screenings are held in a commercial theater and are open to the ticket-buying public, the
companies sponsoring them may not permit Academy
members to gain free admittance using their Academy membership cards."
With about four of the strict rules being broken, our Horror Drunx informed the production company that the screening had to be immediately cancelled!
1. A question and answer session by the director could be considered a "Reception".
2. The very fact that the director would be present at this screening would violate the rule about no "Live participation by anyone associated with the film".
3. The screening would have been "Promoted to Academy Members".
4. And lastly "If such screenings are held in a commercial theater and are open to the ticket-buying public, the companies sponsoring them may not permit Academy members to gain free admittance using their Academy membership cards".
Needless to say, the plug was immediately pulled on the event. Had it continued and taken place, the film would no longer have been eligible for an Oscar. Or even worse, had the director received an Oscar and then the Academy found out about this screening after the awards ceremony, they could have been perfectly within their right to publically strip the director of his award. This is the kind of scandal the likes of which have never been witnessed in the history of the Academy Awards!
Upon getting this news, the Horror Drunx in question then needed to inform the theater that the screening was not going to take place. When the manager of this theater got the news a near catastrophe had been avoided and the reasons, a near panic took place...
Yet another Oscar nominated film had also been booked at the theater for an Academy Members screening. It had also been announced in advertisements in the trades (Variety and others) that the makers of that film would be attending for a question and answer session. A quick succession of frenzied phone calls were made and though the screening took place, the films makers did NOT attend.
That is two films that were nearly bumped out of the Oscar race and had it not been for one Horror Drunx a sure scandal would have rocked Hollywood to its very foundation. Now, the ceremony, which will be watched by most of the population of the television owning world that night, will be scandal free.
A grateful production company has promised an exclusive screening at the theater to that Horror Drunx member, with the director in attendance, should their film win at the Oscars this year. Guess who we are hoping will win... That answer needs to still stay undercover at least until after the awards. No names for now. Confidentiality was my promise to the people who are involved. But stay tuned.
So to those who may look down upon The Horror Drunx and not take us seriously simply because of our name I ask: What has YOUR Horror website done to save the Oscars from scandal lately?
We here at TheHorrorDrunx.com don't need to drop any names, as we prove here, we can effect motion-picture history without someone revealing their name and trying to take personal credit for what they do behind the scenes. So just keep cutting and pasting mass distributed press releases and calling them exclusive news, you fools. In the meantime, we'll continue BEING the news and pulling the strings behind the scenes.
