When we started getting photos of November 2009 Horror Drunkette-of-the-Month SKARAH BLACK, it was hard to believe at first that these photos were all of the same lady. She seems to have a look for every mood (or split personality) and that special something that will appeal to everyone! Yep, but it is true what they say, the best ones are always the most trouble... And as you'll see from her interview, "Trouble" might just be Skarah's middle name... Or maybe "Danger, back the fuck off!"

HD: Usually one of out first questions is to ask what your favorite alcoholic beverage is. However, we hear that you don't drink...Not that you
necessarily have to drink to be a Horror Drunx or Drunkette. (After all, by definition we Horror Drunx love watching a great Horror movie so much that it can
give us a feeling of intoxication all by itself). I find this non-drinking stance refreshing for a Horror Drunkette and you could just be a new kind of
alternative role model for some people out there. What are your personal views on drinking and why don't you?
SKARAH: I don't care one way or another what people do with their bodies, alcohol or drugs or whatever.
It's their body,so I don't give a shit. Now,if you show up on my doorstep with your drunk girlfriend and you shouldn't be driving, you better not
fuck on my couch all night long! I've had that happen twice and now I never want to sit on that couch again. Now that couch is just for show. Why
don't I drink? I don't like the taste of the stuff. I have more fun watching and waiting for my friends to pass out to do humilating things to them
while photographing them. And I'd rather spend my money on Halloween shit.
HD: How long have you been a Horror Drunx and how did you come to join us?
SKARAH: How long have I been a Horror Drunx? Honestly, don't know. I'm getting too old to remember shit like days. You
know how I got involved... Sid. ;P
(NOTE: Skarah, it turns out has Sid Terror in her top friends on her MySpace page, we can only extraspolate that is who told her about
The Horror Drunx and first got her involved. Thank you Sid!)

HD: What are some of your favorite Horror films?
SKARAH: I use to have a few favorite horror films, but I've gotten steadily engulfed in true crime and
serial killers over the years. I study human behavior for fun. Humans will do anything to other humans,animals,cars,vegetables.....anything to anything. But
my favorite is the ORIGINAL "Halloween". That one reminds me of my childhood. Brings all sorts of warm fuzzy feelings back. I like subtle
scariness. Subtle scariness is more realistic since I've experienced some real scary shit in my life. And any film where the killer is a woman that just
goes around fucking people up.

HD: What is the first Horror film you ever saw and how did it effect you and make you feel?
SKARAH: The first horror film that I can remember seeing was The Amityville Horror. I was 7 and my Brownie Troop leader took me
and a bunch of other little girls to see this thing at the theatre. Of course, we all freaked out and called our mothers. The next thing I know, my mother is
chewing the troop leader out in front of the theatre, throwing those stupid cookies at her feet and telling her to fuck off. That was the last day I was a
Brownie. Good. Boring shit. But after that, I was hooked so my dad started me out on old Vincent Price and Bela Lugosi films.

HD: What are your favorite Horror actress (or actresses) and which ones you most admire?
SKARAH: My favorite horror actress is Elsa Lanchester. Of course.

HD: What are your favorite Horror actors?
SKARAH: Vincent Price because I had a crush on him when I was little.

HD: If you were stuck on a desert island (or in a dark house on a stormy night with the bridge washed out) what music / movies / person / Horror personality
would you want there with you?
SKARAH: I'll take the stormy night in the house. I don't like the beach or the sun. I would want two people in the
house with me. First, George Carlin. He was my mentor and he taught me the value of human behavioral studies. The other would be Ted Kuklinski (The Iceman)
just so I could see how long it would take for me to piss him off. Well, that and ask about the details of his mass killings. As for movies, if I was in a
house with just Ted, I'd be too worried about my own neck to watch anything. As for music, again, too scared to listen to music. I'd need to be able
to hear when old Ted is sneaking up on my to end my life. Yeah,I'd piss him off that much.

HD: We hear that you are not only a Halloween collector, but that you also have another favorite holiday that you collect on. Describe your collection and
your other favorite holiday...
SKARAH: I collect a lot of antiques and old Halloween stuff as well as funeral ephemera, but I also collect a lot of vintage
Christmas lights. Yeah, think what you want but I have a light fetish. And I only collect Halloween, Christmas, and other shit from the 30's and 40's
era's. I love the 40's era. I should have been born then. Now you outed me!

HD: Oh my goodness...looking at some of these photos... Is that your real tongue?!
SKARAH: Yes,that is my real tongue. I've been a sideshow act for all of my friends since high school. And a favorite for
fashion shows.

HD: Describe your idea of the perfect romantic date. Where would you go? What would you do? What would you eat? Who would you do it with? Etc.
SKARAH: My idea of a perfect romantic date? Sid, you know better. I've been celibate for almost 10 years
and have no patience for relationships or dates or whatever. If some guy was unlucky enough to date me, he'd find himself dead in a ditch some where.
I'd either hurt the guy very badly, or scare the shit out of him. I told you about the pimp I reduced to tears, didn't I?
HD: What really pisses you off about the Horror movie genre and/or Horror community today?
SKARAH: What pisses me off about the horror film industry these days is that it can't be called an industry any more. The
word industry means you're producing something. The crap I see these days is bastardized, butchered remakes of old classics, repackaged for rubes. You
know the reaction everyone gives when someone say's "there's going to be sequel"? That groan? It's the same shit when you hear that
some douchebag is going to "remake" a classic. You can't improve on a classic. That's why it's called a classic. I don't give the
time of day to a remake. Never will. Now, if you want to try to remake "Deathbed:The Bed That Eats People",go to it.

HD: What do you do for a living?
SKARAH: I work in politics. The government consulting firm I work for does a lot of shit that's too boring to describe, but
basically my job is to con Republican windbags to do what we want them to. And I'm good at it. I just love fucking with the minds of old racist
douchebags.

HD: Do you have any pet projects or causes?
SKARAH: I have a great love for animals. I help run a foster group for homeless cats and kittens. I'm in charge of any
black cats that come into the program. A lot of people are superstitious about adopting a black cat, so I make them charming and irresistble.

HD: What else interests you and fills your leisure time?
SHARAH: I like antique stores. A lot. I also like going to the Funeral Museum down the road from my
house.
HD: What is your connection to Salem Massachusetts?
SKARAH: My connection to Salem, Mass. is I'm related to one of the women that was hanged as a witch during the Salem Witch
Trials. Her name was Susannah North Martin and she was a cranky old bitch that no one liked. She owned land and so they killed her for it. She was my 12th
generation cousin. I'm a cranky old bitch myself so I can see the family trait we had in common.

HD: What question do you wish we'd have asked you and how would you answer it?
SKARAH: No other questions here. If you wanted to hear about some people that have stalked me, well, that's another fucked
up chapter. And I ran into one of them at a club tonight. I did 90 all the way home. I gotta get a gun.
So beautiful and oh so dangerous too, both traits of the ultimate Horror Drunkette. Thank you Skarah Black for being the
November 2009 Horror Drunkette of the Month!
